AIFC Academy Launches Financial Literacy Pilot in Schools
A pilot project has been launched to integrate financial literacy into the curriculum of Kazakhstani schools, starting with 9th-grade students at two schools in Astana and Akmola Region. The project aims to create lesson plans in Kazakh and Russian, train teachers, and organise a forum for educators to discuss integrating financial literacy across subjects. The AIFC Academy plays a key role in teacher training and scaling the project nationwide, with the initiative running through the 2025 academic year.
The main objectives of the project include:

  • Conducting financial literacy lessons for 9th-grade students at Quantum TECH School (Astana) and Kyzylzhar Secondary School (Akmola Region).
  • Creating five lesson plans in both Kazakh and Russian languages.
  • Organising a forum for teachers and school principals to integrate financial literacy topics into other subjects.
  • Training teachers for the broader implementation of the programme in public schools.
The role and contribution of the AIFC Academy include:

  • Teacher training, enabling the Academy to play a vital role in the nationwide rollout of financial literacy lessons.
  • Scaling the project, addressing the integration of financial literacy in educational institutions across Kazakhstan.
  • Hosting a forum to raise awareness and engage teachers and principals in the importance of financial literacy.

The teaching approach combines traditional methods with modern techniques such as project work and case studies, aimed at maintaining students' ongoing interest and skill development.

The project will begin in January 2025 and run until the end of the academic year, supporting the development of a comprehensive financial literacy education programme.
