Welcome to the New AIFC Weekly News Digest
Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to this week’s edition, featuring key updates, insights, and achievements from across our organisation and the wider AIFC community.

Last week, we celebrated a historic milestone: the Astana International Exchange has officially listed Kazakhstan's first-ever Sukuk. This landmark achievement not only elevates the country's Islamic finance profile but also reinforces the AIFC's mission to foster Sharia-compliant financial instruments within local and regional markets.

Explore why global companies are increasingly turning to renewable energy certificates and how this trend impacts their ratings and revenues. Alan Bokayev, Senior Manager of the Carbon Platform Development Department at the AIFC, provides an in-depth analysis in this issue.

We’re also delighted to introduce a new educational segment in our digest. Today, we explore the concept of sustainable finance, examining how climate change and environmental challenges affect safety, health, and the global economy.

For insights on international arbitration, listen to an enlightening podcast by Mr Thomas Krümmel, Chairman of the IAC, as he discusses the overriding objective of the IAC Arbitration Rules and its importance.

Additionally, we bring you an important public notice from AFSA regarding the regulatory status of ACLB Management Company Limited. While registered within the AIFC, the firm is not licensed by AFSA to provide financial services or to make financial promotions.

Finally, we review the stock market, where the week witnessed mixed performances. The NASDAQ Composite maintained steady gains, while the Dow Jones faced a challenging run, with four days of losses. Meanwhile, Treasury 10-year yields exhibited slight volatility, closing the week at 4.15%.

Stay informed, stay inspired, and let’s continue driving progress together.

Best regards,
The AIFC Corporate Communications Team

Kazakhstan's First-Ever Sukuk Listed on AIX

In a landmark development for Kazakhstan’s financial sector, the AIX has officially listed the country’s first-ever Sukuk. This historic achievement marks a significant step forward in the promotion of Islamic finance in Kazakhstan, aligning with the broader mission of the AIFC to foster the growth of Sharia-compliant financial instruments within the local market.
This issuance represents a landmark achievement for both AIX and the promotion of Islamic finance in Kazakhstan. By facilitating the listing of debut local sukuk, we are creating more diverse and inclusive investment opportunities and strengthening our link to global Sharia-compliant financial markets. This accomplishment highlights the AIX's commitment to driving innovation and contribution to the sustainable growth of the country’s financial ecosystem in general."
