Nauryz Celebrated in Grand Style at Astana International Financial Centre
The ancient celebration of Nauryz, deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of many Eurasian nations, was brought to life today at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). Marking the arrival of spring, Nauryz is more than a seasonal celebration – it symbolises renewal, resilience, and the enduring spirit of unity that has connected generations for centuries.
A focal point of the day’s festivities was the traditional Tusau Kesu ceremony – a time-honoured Kazakh ritual celebrating a child’s first steps. Believed to bring strength, protection, and good fortune, the ritual involves cutting symbolic ties from a child’s legs, encouraging them to walk confidently into the world. In a touching moment, the ceremony was performed for Khakim, the young son of AIFC employee Zarina, highlighting the event’s deep cultural significance.
Throughout the day, AIFC employees and participants engaged in a variety of activities celebrating Kazakh heritage. Traditional games, cultural masterclasses, and a lively Nauryz Market featuring national crafts and artisanal items offered guests an immersive experience into the spirit of the holiday.
Adding to the celebrations, the AIFC Expat Centre launched the Expat Loyalty Club Community with a special event for international professionals residing in Astana. Attendees were treated to a showcase of Kazakh culture, including traditional music, dance, national cuisine, and interactive performances.
The AIFC was abuzz with energy, cultural pride, and festive cheer – a testament to the enduring relevance of Nauryz and the diverse community that continues to keep its traditions alive.
