Welcome to the New AIFC Weekly News Digest
Dear Colleagues,

We have some exciting updates to share with you this week!

In this week’s AIFC News Digest, we anticipate the upcoming sixth anniversary of the Astana International Exchange (AIX), a moment to reflect on its remarkable journey and its growing role as a financial hub in Central Asia.

Notably, during the recent Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) Summit, five member countries signed a Memorandum to establish the Turkic Green Finance Council, with Kazakhstan’s President K.K. Tokayev appointing the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) as the Council’s Secretariat. AIFC’s economic impact also continues to grow, with its participants contributing KZT 41.3 billion in taxes to the Kazakhstani budget in the first three quarters of 2024 alone and creating over 9,600 jobs to date.

This edition spotlights insights from Ainur Tursynbayeva, a lawyer at the AIFC Authority, and a timely podcast with Mr. Thomas Krümmel, IAC Chairman, discussing the IAC’s emergency arbitration capabilities. We also feature AFSA’s new regulatory framework for boutique financial firms and Kazakhstan’s first UNICEF Charity Gala Dinner in Astana, supporting children’s rights and inclusive education.

Catch up on these developments and the latest US stock market trends, where last week’s trading showed significant fluctuations, ultimately closing with a balance of gains and declines across sectors.

Stay informed, stay inspired!

Best regards,
The AIFC Corporate Communications Team
