Welcome to the New AIFC Weekly News Digest
Dear Colleagues,
We have some exciting updates to share with you this week!
Last week, we celebrated a momentous occasion in Kazakhstan’s history - Republic Day. Our AIFC family came together for a special Recognition and Awards Ceremony, honoring the remarkable contributions of our colleagues who are driving AIFC’s success and leaving their mark on our shared history. Notably, these achievements were recognized at the national level, with AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov receiving the prestigious "Kurmet" medal by decree of the President, alongside several other colleagues who were similarly honored with national medals, reflecting the collective impact of our dedicated team.
In a significant milestone, the trading volume on AIX has reached $1 billion since the start of 2024, bringing the total volume since AIX’s inception in 2018 to over $2 billion. This achievement reflects the growing engagement of our domestic clients, the increased participation of foreign investors, and a rise in the number of listed securities.
In global market news, U.S. stock markets saw a mixed performance this week, with both the Dow Jones and S&P 500 experiencing losses, while the NASDAQ displayed intermittent gains, highlighting the ever-dynamic landscape of global finance.
We were also thrilled to see Sergey Nezdemkovsky, Partner in Audit Services at KPMG for the Caucasus and Central Asia, share his perspectives in a recent podcast interview on the evolving field of audit and financial reporting, emphasizing AIFC’s role in advancing Kazakhstan’s financial ecosystem.
Our Spotlight Interview Series this week features Inkar Bektybayeva, a seasoned IT professional with an extensive background across countries and industries. As an IT Associate at AIX, she shares her inspiring journey, valuable experiences, and perspectives on the tech landscape at AIFC.
In regulatory news, AFSA has enacted the AIFC Investment Token Framework, setting a robust foundation for the governance of platforms that trade or clear Investment Tokens, in line with AFSA’s policy approach.
