The Right Honourable Lord John Thomas Alderdice, member of the British Parliament’s House of Lords and UK Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asia, visited the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) as part of his official trip to Kazakhstan.
During the visit, Lord Alderdice and the accompanying delegation were introduced to the core institutions of the AIFC, including the AIFC Court, the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), the Astana International Exchange (AIX), and the Green Finance Centre (GFC). The delegation also visited the AIFC Museum of Trust to learn more about the development of Kazakhstan’s financial history.
Currently, 86 British companies are registered at the AIFC, operating across finance, technology, and professional services. In the first half of 2025 alone, 21 new UK companies joined the Centre, contributing to a record year of growth.
To date, British companies have attracted more than USD 533 million in investment through the AIFC and created 140 local jobs. In the same period, they contributed KZT 2.3 billion in taxes to the state budget.
This visit underscored the growing partnership between the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan — one built on shared values of openness, innovation, and trust.
