AIFC Governor Strengthens Financial Ties with Poland During Warsaw Visit
The Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) recently held a series of highly productive meetings in Warsaw, deepening ties between Kazakhstan and Poland.
The visit underscored the importance of strengthening international collaboration in the financial sector, with discussions focusing on expanding partnerships and market opportunities.
Key figures in Poland’s financial ecosystem participated in these talks, including Marek Dietl, PhD, Economic Advisor to the President of Poland; Michal Kuzawinski from the Warsaw Stock Exchange; and Małgorzata Rusewicz and Beata Chmielewska from the Chamber of Fund and Asset Management (IZFiA). The Governor expressed his gratitude for their time, expertise, and invaluable insights, which contributed to shaping a forward-looking dialogue on financial collaboration.

During the meetings, the AIFC Governor highlighted the Centre's recent progress in advancing financial market development, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s evolving role in global finance. "Our discussions centered on exploring new avenues for collaboration, and I had the opportunity to present the strides we are making at the AIFC to drive financial market development," he said.

The strong relationship between AIFC and Poland continues to grow. Last year, the Warsaw Stock Exchange gained recognition as an Equivalent Regulated Exchange for Securities and Listed Funds by the AIFC, a milestone that has made it easier for issuers to trade across both exchanges. Additionally, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) and the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) has further enhanced regulatory cooperation between the two nations.

Poland's involvement in the AIFC ecosystem is already evident, with 11 Polish companies currently registered with the Centre, ranging from consultancy and legal services to mining and trade. The AIFC Governor expressed optimism that the increasing engagement of Polish financial institutions will not only boost liquidity but also contribute to the broader expansion of financial markets in the region.

With these discussions in Warsaw, the AIFC reaffirms its commitment to building robust international partnerships, positioning Kazakhstan as a key player in the global financial landscape. The Governor’s visit reflects a strategic step forward in strengthening economic ties between Poland and Kazakhstan, setting the stage for continued collaboration and growth
