The Astana International Financial Centre recently hosted a distinguished delegation led by US Congresswoman Carol Miller and Matt Miller. AIFC representatives, including AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov, warmly welcomed the guests, offering a comprehensive overview of the Centre’s role in developing Kazakhstan’s financial market.
AIFC representatives highlighted the advantages AIFC offers to companies from the U.S. and beyond, including the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre, the AIFC Green Finance Centre, the Expat Centre, and the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA).
The discussions with Congresswoman Miller’s delegation also focused on exploring potential areas for cooperation between the USA and Kazakhstan, particularly in relation to opportunities for American businesses within AIFC. At present, 62 U.S. companies are registered within the Centre, spanning diverse sectors such as financial services, insurance, ICT, mining, and more.
As of March 2025, U.S.-based AIFC participants have made a significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s state budget, with approximately 9.5 billion KZT in taxes. Furthermore, these companies have attracted over $24 million in investment through company capitalisation, reflecting the growing economic ties between the two nations.
The AIFC representatives expressed optimism for continued growth in American interest in Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region, particularly in the financial sector. Looking ahead, they anticipate an increase in the number of U.S. financial firms and banks joining the AIFC, further enhancing its status as a key player on the global financial stage.
