Presidents of Kazakhstan and Guinea-Bissau Visit AIFC
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who is on an official visit to Kazakhstan, toured the Astana International Financial Centre.
AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov presented the structure of the financial centre and its main areas of activity. He noted that priority areas for cooperation between the two countries within the AIFC platform could include investments, green and Islamic finance, and financial sector workforce training.

It was highlighted that the total investments attracted through the AIFC have reached $14 billion, including $6.7 billion in portfolio investments on the Astana International Exchange. The centre is home to over 3,400 registered companies from 85 countries, including six from the African continent.

The presidents were briefed on the operations of the AIFC Court, the first judicial system in Central Asia based on common law principles, as well as the work of the International Arbitration Centre and the Green Finance Centre. They also learned about the activities of the AIFC’s financial services regulatory body, the Astana Financial Services Authority, and the unique regulatory framework of the centre.
