Business schools: what’s their real value?
Have you ever wondered how business school programs are actually designed and why they remain so relevant?
It’s probably not just about the big names. Every strong school has its own logic. And that logic shapes the kind of person you become after going through the program.
Harvard Business School is all about case studies. There are no “correct” answers. You’re put into real-world situations where you have to decide what to do, sometimes quickly, sometimes with limited information. That’s the whole point: learning how to think and take responsibility.
Stanford Graduate School of Business is a bit different. There’s a strong focus on technology, digital, and the future. But if we’re being honest, it’s really about mindset. About spotting change before others do and understanding what to do with it.
INSEAD is a completely different experience. Multiple campuses, different countries, diverse people around you. You’re constantly placed in new contexts, which builds adaptability and flexibility in a very real way.
If you step back from the names, it becomes clear: it’s not about the brand. It’s about the approach.
That same principle is behind modern programs today, including PreMBA. It’s not just a set of disciplines. It’s a system. On one hand, you build a solid foundation: marketing, project management, HR, finance, digital. On the other, you start seeing how all of it connects in real business situations.
And then there’s the environment. Because learning is also about the people around you. The ones who are at a similar stage and who you might grow with in the future.
Maybe the most important outcome is developing a flexible mindset. The kind that doesn’t get lost in change, but learns how to navigate it.
At some point, learning stops being something you have to do and becomes a tool you choose to use.
