A Book as a way to clear your mind
April 23 marked World Book and Copyright day, and it’s a good moment to pause and ask a simple question: What place do books actually hold in our lives today?

The date is symbolically linked to names like William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes - writers who didn’t just create texts, but entire ways of thinking. Their works are still read today not out of obligation to the classics, but because they offer depth, structure, and a sense of completeness.

And that’s where the contrast with how we consume information today becomes clear.
We live in a world where knowledge is more accessible than ever. Feeds update faster than we can process them. We skim headlines, watch short videos, scroll through endless posts. It’s fast, convenient… and highly fragmented. Our understanding of the world is often built from pieces that rarely come together into a coherent whole.
Against this backdrop, a book feels almost like the opposite.

A book isn’t a stream, it’s a structure. Not a collection of scattered ideas, but a carefully built line of thought, moving from one idea to the next, from question to answer. And that’s exactly why books haven’t lost their value.

Today, the advantage doesn’t belong to those who consume more information, or even to those who find it faster. It belongs to those who can structure it, connect it, and turn it into something meaningful and applicable. In many ways, a book is a training ground for that kind of thinking.
It’s no coincidence that this day was established by UNESCO - as a reminder that reading remains one of the most powerful tools for personal and professional growth.
The question that remains is simple, but honest: when was the last time a book truly changed the way you see something?
If the answer doesn’t come easily, it may not be about a lack of time. It may be that, in all the noise, it’s become harder to find what’s truly worth reading.
Sometimes, one book is enough to rebuild an entire way of thinking.
