One of the highlights of Astana Finance Days 2025 was the inaugural Opening Ceremony – a first in the forum’s history.
We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests, partners, and speakers to the Opening Ceremony of the region’s premier financial forum.
Guests were treated to a symbolic five-act performance – a modern interpretation of Kazakh traditions inspired by the spiritual legacy of the Great Steppe and the historic Silk Road.
As part of the Opening Ceremony, attendees witnessed a symbolic performance composed of five acts, each reflecting the key values of this forum: continuity, development, sustainability, and progress.
The first act, Shanyrak, symbolises the foundation and stability that support family, nation, and state – much like how Astana, as Kazakhstan’s capital, serves as a growing financial hub bridging East and West.
Following this, the Dastarhan represents openness and cultural dialogue, embodying hospitality and partnership – essential elements in fostering international cooperation within the AIFC.
The Wheel dance pays homage to the Great Silk Road, symbolising the evolution from traditional trade routes to a modern intellectual economy – reflecting our centre’s role in facilitating sustainable growth through innovative capital.
The rhythmic Dauylpaz drum evokes the spirit of the land and the energy of progress, while the Tamga symbol serves as a reminder of our historical identity intertwined with the future.
Together, this performance embodied the essence of Astana Finance Days 2025 – where capital empowers the future by honouring our past and inspiring our shared journey ahead.
Opening remarks were delivered by Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Renat Bekturov, Governor of the AIFC.
The ceremony concluded with a thought-provoking Fireside Chat between Renat Bekturov and renowned futurist and author Brett King, exploring how AI, ethics, and innovation are reshaping the financial systems of the future.
